A high-quality science education provides the foundations for understanding the world. We want our children to notice, ask and answer questions about the world around them. Through the teaching of key scientific concepts, knowledge and skills we want to spark a lifelong interest and curiosity in the wonder of the world around them.
Science is best taught hands on with an emphasis on investigations, where children can learn to articulate their observations, make predictions and analyse results. We want the children at Dale to be critical thinkers and problem solvers who are able to apply science across everyday situations.
In Science children will develop their scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through a range of learning opportunities. They will develop their understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science, through different types of scientific enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them. Collecting, analysing and presenting data will be key skills that are taught across the school, as well as how to use technical terminology accurately and precisely, building up an extended scientific vocabulary. At Dale we ensure that our children are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.
